Co-founded by Franco Cutrupia, Chairman of the Sapientia Foundation, and his wife,  Pauline Ngai Cutrupia, the GuWei Museum is the first private museum in the Southern District to blend exhibitions, cultural education and leisure. Opened to the public last September, the Museum features a diverse collection of more than one thousand artefacts from various historical periods and regions worldwide. These include porcelainware, silverware, carpets, paintings, textiles and jewellery, inviting visitors to explore the distinctive patterns, forms and colours that represent both Eastern and Western cultures. In addition to its exhibitions, the museum offers a vibrant array of workshops and programmes for all ages, inspiring creativity and bringing fresh dynamism to Hong Kong’s cultural landscape.
This exclusive tour, led by Museum’s curatorial team, will cover the Museum’s permanent collection, plus the thematic exhibitions, “Chinese Dragon & Snake Connection. The Snake in the Chinese and Foreign Cultures” and Simon Yung Solo Exhibition, “Traces of Travelling the Mountains and Seas”.

Chinese Dragon and Snake Connection – The Snake in the Chinese and Foreign Cultures
In Chinese culture, snakes are referred to as “little dragons”. This exhibition is curated as an extension to the Opening Special Exhibition “The Dragon and Phoenix Offer Auspiciousness” to narrate the connection between the dragon and the snake, to showcase snake-related objects in Chinese and foreign cultures, and to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Snake.

Traces of Travelling the Mountains and Seas by artist Simon Yung
This exhibition showcases the artist’s latest ink works inspired by the Shanhai jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas), highlighting the fusion of contemporary art and traditional techniques. On the basis of classical work, Simon Yung reinterprets the stories and meanings of the Shanhai jing through a modern perspective, showing the significance of ancient myths and legends in contemporary society.

The museum visit will end with afternoon tea at the Museum Coffee Shop (Shuangminghui), with pleasant views of Aberdeen Lower Reservoir and Lamma Island.

Cancellations received after Wednesday, April 23 will incur a $100 cancellation fee.
